According to Lilu – Slab Material in Showers Trend

Recently, the incorporation of slab material in shower designs has emerged as a trend, elevating bathroom aesthetics and the shower experience. For this weeks blog, let's delve into this growing trend and explore options for slab materials to create stunning shower spaces.

The aesthetics of a slab material can create a calm, nature-inspired or modern shower look but the real appeal for most home-owners is the ease of maintenance of slab shower walls. With very few joints there is less grout to clean and less chance of mold and mildew building up inside the shower.

Natural Stone

Natural stone, such as marble or granite, has long been used for its beauty and unique veining. Utilizing slabs of natural stone in showers creates a luxurious and sophisticated ambiance. However, while stunning, natural stone requires regular sealing to prevent staining, so that's something to keep in mind if you are considering the use of these classic natural stone slab materials.

Porcelain Slab

Porcelain slabs have gained immense popularity in shower designs due to their remarkable durability and versatility. These slabs are available in various colors, patterns, and textures, mimicking the look of natural stone. Porcelain offers excellent resistance to scratches, stains, and fading, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic showers.

Quartz Slabs

Quartz slabs, composed of natural quartz crystals and resins, present a compelling option for showers. With a wide array of colors and patterns available, quartz offers both aesthetic appeal and exceptional durability. It's non-porous, resistant to stains, and requires minimal maintenance. However, quartz may not be suitable for high-heat environments due to resin content.

Corian

Corian, a solid surface material, is a unique material perfect for creating seamless shower designs. Its non-porous surface resists mold, mildew, and staining, offering easy maintenance. Corian allows for customizable shower slab shapes and sizes, providing flexibility in design. Yet, it might not have the natural aesthetic appeal of stone materials.

The trend towards using slab materials in showers is no surprise considering their ability to create sleek, uninterrupted surfaces that exude luxury and elegance. Whether it's the timeless allure of natural stone, the durability of porcelain and quartz, or the seamless customization of Corian, each material brings its unique charm to shower spaces.
