Living with Intention by Design in 2024

By now we're all familiar with the yearly phenomenon of New Year's resolutions, but this year Google suggested a daunting 55 to choose from! To avoid winding up completely overwhelmed and possibly doomed for failure on January 1st, I'm opting instead for just one resolution: living intentionally. What does that mean? For me it’s been about 13 years in the making - learning why intentional living can be so rewarding has become something like a crash course over these past few years!

Living more intentionally has led me to create a daily life and environment that includes supporting wellness goals by designing an infrared sauna in our home, building a craft area to support my painting and sewing hobbies with ease, and designing a fabulous backyard gathering space to gather with friends and family. I believe your home environment can support or sabotage your goals and intentions for your life. Each year we work on a home project focused on our intentions for how we want to live our home life.

My design practice is also focused on my client's intentions for their lives and how their home can support those intentions. That is why our portfolio is divided into the most common reasons clients initiate a project. Including Live Artfully,  Create Joy, Refeather Your Nest, Be Productive, Live Sustainably, Gather At Home, Rejuvenate, and Eat Well. Explore our portfolio.

.Well-Being in 2024: Eat Well And Rejuvenate

Helping your family find balance, health, and joy in 2024 is a top priority - that's why we're here to show you how the home can support healthy living habits. Through fresh, homemade meals, regular exercise routines, and dedicated self-care moments; wellness isn't just a big subject but has become an integral part of everyone’s lives right now! Check out the Eat Well section of our portfolio to see projects for clients who want to focus on cooking healthy meals at home. This intention supports wellness in multiple ways. Both through nourishing your body will food and through nourishing connections with family and friends by cooking and eating together.

Your home can also play an important role in allowing you to be your best self in the part of your life that takes place outside its walls. You may want to be the best professional, volunteer, or leader in your work life, and having a home that allows you to rejuvenate helps you with those goals. Your home can support rejuvenation by being a quiet sanctuary where you can rest, practice self-care, pursue hobbies, and do all the things that fill you up. Designing a home with these goals in mind is part of what we do for our clients. Visit our Rejuvenate section in our portfolio to see projects that have well-being in mind.

A Joyful Life: Create Joy

If having a bit more joy in your life sounds good, think about what brings a smile to your face and uplifts your mood. Perhaps it is a happy color or a quirky piece of art, lighting, or furniture.  A happy home depends upon the people who live there but giving each room a touch of whimsy makes it easier to find a little joy each day.

A joyful home can make you feel like you are in a world away where the concerns of the world melt away and allow you to notice beauty and light. Check out the Create Joy section of our portfolio for home renovation projects for clients whose main goal was to create a joyful, happy vibe for their family.

Elevate Your Everyday Experiences

Any year is a great one for focusing on (and improving!) our everyday experiences!  We expanded our outdoor living space and garden and added my craft area to our basement remodel. Beyond that - I grew my indoor houseplant habit which has become my favorite ritual; even through winter days, something is calming about caring for some greenery each day. On the list for 2024? Turn a spare bedroom into a music and reading room. When you practice Living with Intention by Design in 2024, you are sure to have a fabulous year. Here’s looking forward to seeing what else 2024 brings us all!

Beautiful post Lisa and I Love your Living With Intention motto. It makes one think on how you’d like to live in and feel in every space. Your projects are always so beautiful and amazing!

I love this message Lisa! As my husband and I have become empty nesters, it’s caused us to ask ourselves what the next chapter holds. How does our living space reflect on what we would like to focus on? Purging, simplifying, organization and self care are just a few of our goals for 2024. When you’ve spent years putting your kids needs and wants before your own, it’s nice to now ask yourselves – What would we like our living space and lifestyle to be? Cheers to a great 2024!
