Unexpected Fall Interior Color Palettes-According to LiLu
Fall Interior Color Palettes
The weather is about to change and it's time for fall interior color palettes. We’ve gone from tulip season to dahlia and tomato season and now fall is just around the corner. Fall brings to mind pumpkins and the changing leaves. Orange and gold come immediately to mind as fall colors but today we are asking you to expand your mind and consider the richness of fall.
Color inspiration can include mums, wooly sweaters, stone fireplaces, squash, beets and all the hardy fall vegetables.
We’ve gathered some of the design work we’ve done over the years to inspire you with fall interior color palettes.
Deep Tones Of Fallen Leaves Inspire Fall Interior Color Palettes
When I look down at the fall leaves on the pavement of the city sidewalks, I notice not just the reds and oranges but the deeper, dustier tones of purples and burgundy. The fall seems a bit wistful to me. Seeing the leaves against the cool gray pavement reminds me to relish the details of life and of this living room we designed a few years ago.
Classic Copper
When I was a child, we would sometimes drink warm cider from a copper mug with a stick of cinnamon in it in the fall. Fall will forever be associated with copper in my mind. This is one of my favorite kitchens that features copper prominently. Here we combined the copper with teal. I hear that deep teal is “on trend” this fall. Mixing copper and teal creates a perfectly balanced complementary color scheme.
Denim and Golden Leaves
This family room from about a decade ago reminds me of fall days and hiking in jeans through the woods. Fallen oak leaves of gold at my feet while I look up at the slate blue sky. Fall interior color palettes can be more unexpected by thinking about the blue sky and open water that are still with us until winter.
Log Cabin Getaways
When the weather starts to turn cool, doesn’t a log cabin in the woods sound like a ideal place to spend some time? This log home we designed a few years ago, uses a red and teal color scheme that allows the warm wood of the cabinetry and logs to really shine. Warm wood tones, like honey and cinnamon are great neutrals for fall interior color palettes.

What an evocative post, Lisa. All these rooms you’ve designed with fall colors put me right in the mood to so want a glass of hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick in it!

I always love me some paint colour palettes! The purple colour in the first palette, Jester, is one that I used in a home movie theatre. It’s such a fun colour and I love to see it paired with different tones. Great post, I love the fall!
