Accessorizing your Shelves in 2021: Peek at Project with LiLu Interiors
Let’s talk Accessorizing!
The icing on the cake, the final touches, the let’s pull the room together moment…
Accessorizing bookshelves and mantles as well as adding in artwork can often be details or steps that are looked over when it comes to finishing a room.
There is an art to assembling shelves and putting all the details into the right place. When it comes to accessorizing one of the main goals is to add to the space and to help move your eye. Overall accessorizing can take a room from good to spectacular.
Today we are featuring a day in our world of accessorizing for a client! To begin, we reviewed the drawings and sizes of the shelves and places we needed accessories and the overall concept for the client’s home.
We had designed the home a year earlier with built-ins, furniture and window treatments and now are putting the final touches on the room. You can check out the blog here: Fresh, Glitzy and Cozy
Once we have formulated a plan we were off scouting. To maintain our client’s budget we did a variety of retail and showroom items. Once we were done scouting and purchasing, we like to put items into moodboards to make sure we have the right mix of items. From scale to color to texture, we make sure it all works together.
Once all items are selected, we then load up our cars and bring all the items over to the clients home. We place the items and then walk through with the client.
Take a peek at our process:
As always be sure to follow along on instagram over @lilumpls. We love the design process as much as we love designing. Have questions or no idea where to begin on your project? Give us a call! We'd love to talk through it.

How fun to see your process, Lisa! I love the way you painted the back of their shelves, and worked to make sure everything would work together, ahead of time.

I love that you do mood boards before you style – great idea!

Wow – this post is super helpful. You’ve given us a lot to think about and some wonderful solutions for post-Covid life. I’m like you in that I’ll be wearing a mask on planes and will continue to be careful. I was always a bit of a germaphobe because I hate getting so much as a cold!

I love seeing your process. Out of all of the things we do, this actually happens to be my least favourite. This is most likely why I bring in my interior decorating friend to help me with this part. You make it look so easy!
