Garden Retreat: Peek at an Outdoor Project
Don't let the "IN" fool you, good interior design travels OUTside! Take a look at our mood boards for the backyard garden of this cozy bungalow and how we developed the color palette.
The home has a burgundy brick and cream stucco exterior with window trim painted a color that can only be called Sexy Eggplant. (Ok, it's actually Caponata by Benjamin Moore, but I'm thinking about writing them a letter to have it officially changed.) The garden features a lively combination of purple and orange flowers. Since we want the flowers to be the star of the show, we used an outdoor stripe from Clarence House with a little orange pinstripe as a nice palette bridge. The unique but clean lines of the furniture and sculptural tables create a nice mix.
If you're curious, here's what's going on in the garden:
Purples:
- Allium (the purple spiky ball flowers)
- Black Knight Hollyhocks
- Blackberry Coral Bells
Oranges:
- Poppies
- Dahlias
Greens/Neutrals:
- Incrediball white hydrangeas
- Lime hostas
