Multi-Functional Home Office: Peek at a Project

PEEK AT A PROJECT

Multi-Functional Home Office

Home Office Design

Multi-Functional

We designed this multi-functional home office space for a client and her daughter to work from home, provide a space for homework and to do craft projects together. Their extra bedroom made the perfect room to transform into a home office. We were able to reimagine the space into a multi-functional home office.
Craft Room Design

Craft Table

We designed a space at the window for a craft table to make this home office a multi-functional space. Having a large table along with shallow desks gives you multiple work surfaces. The table provides a great space to spread out craft projects or work. Having it near the window is nice to take advantage of the natural light. We selected a counter height table so you have the option of doing work standing up. It makes working on a craft project with someone easy at a free-standing table. The metal finish is easy to maintain and adds character to the room. We combined it with traditional counter stools to create an overall fun eclectic look. It is also a great spot for a snack or lunch break.

Two Desks

To maximize the function of the room we designed the cabinetry to have two separate desk spaces. The separate desks work great for two family members to share the space. With designated workstations it is easy for two people to focus on their own work. Each desk space has its own storage and lighting.

File Storage

Having lots of storage is key to a successful home office. File drawers provide convenient organized storage out of sight that is easy to access. We designed a combination of files and cabinets to provide closed storage options for work and crafts. The closed storage keeps the room feeling organized and clutter free. With a place for everything it is easy to file work and put craft supplies away when not in use.

Display Space

To balance the closed storage below we designed open shelves above. The shelves open up the room and provide a place to display fun photos and art. The open shelves also offer a quick convenient place to store binders and books.

Bulletin Board

We designed a large bulletin board area to pin up notes a calendar or fun inspiration images. The tackable space provides a place to be creative while adding color and personality to the room.

That taller craft table is a genius addition to the space! Love the metal surface of it, and the pairing with traditional stools. Custom built-ins are definitely the way to go to take full advantage of every bit of space – beautifully done!

  2. Mary Ann Benoit says:

Great ideas and love that tall craft table right at the level of the window for perfect natural light. Great wallpaper too!

  3. mitz ibeach says:

So complete for akl purposes Lisa but I especially love the craft table by the window and the added bulletin board. I am a big fan of adjacencies by a window! And the colors are interesting but not overpowering a work space.

  4. Sheri Bruneau says:

What great solutions you designed for this family. I love my standing desk and I was happy to see the craft table designed higher to give that flexibility to stand or sit. I’m betting your clients will love that as well.

  5. Leslie Carothers says:

This is such a well thought out space, Lisa, and exactly why I would hire a designer.. I love the bulletin board idea between the two bookshelves and the idea that the craft table could also be a standing desk.
