Women In Design: Kristie Strasen

By LuAnne Silvia, ASID
Who she is: Kristie Strasen, founder of Place Textiles
Why she inspires us: She has a passion for what she does, knows her way around fibers and weaves, and combines fabulous with usable in what she calls "durable luxury"
From the moment Kristie Strasen walked into our studio we were greeted with enthusiasm and passion for textiles, dreams and life. She followed her dream and is doing what she loves and it shows. Every textile is created with a place in mind: your family room sofa, your guest room headboard, your favorite reading chair, and is named for a place with a story behind it. Kristie soaks up her environment and translates it into touchy-feely-yummy textures that are really for touching, not just looking.
We recently updated this client's existing chair by reupholstering it in Place Textiles fabric pattern Killarney Straw, a nubby wool and nylon that added lofty dimension to this small scale chair
