PEEK AT A PROJECT

Designing a nursery for a new baby is a pretty fun design project! Take a look at this whimsical nursery design featuring a coral and lavender color scheme.

Concept

Whimsical and adventurous are some of the concept words for this design. We set out to design something playful and colorful against a neutral backdrop. Rather than selecting a theme, we selected a concept and all design decisions have to support the concept. (A theme would be: Winnie the Pooh or Unicorns.)
 

Color Scheme

A neutral wall color with creamy white trim is the backdrop for bringing in small touches of color through pillows, art, and accessories. The crib sheet and crib mobile has all of the colors that repeat throughout the room.

Furniture

Every nursery needs a comfy rocking chair. This one glides and swivels for soothing motion for baby. It also has scoop arms for mom to rest her arms on while cradling the baby. We like the cute lines of the chair and paired it with a fairly simple fabric so that it can do double duty in the future if it needs to be moved into another room in the house. The flower cloud back pillow with have coral brush fringe to add a touch of whimsy. A white crib and dresser/changing table keep things simple.
