The trucks showed up on Saturday morning, and we threw the last of the Post-it Notes and broken pencils into a box. Finally, after weeks of preparation it was time. LiLu Interiors was making the move to International Market Square, affectionately known as IMS.

No turning back
This is a big change for us. We'd be kidding ourselves if we said otherwise. And not only in terms of space, but in routine as well. For the better part of a decade, we've worked out of the same little office in St. Louis Park (we were there even before LiLu was an idea). Now we're moving to an office smack in the heart of the Twin Cities design community. It probably won't sink in until we make our first U-turns, realizing that we were headed to the old office building.
Or we'll notice it the next time we need to select samples for a client meeting. Instead of jumping in the car and driving 20 minutes away, we can just walk down the hall to any of the home furnishing showrooms we partner with. It will take us five minutes, maybe 10 if we get distracted walking up and down the one-of-a-kind staircases at IMS (more on that later).
Today will be the day
Most likely the realization will hit us today. When we sit at our new desks, look out our new windows and make our first phone calls, each of us will recognize that we no longer are just visitors to this building rich with history. As of today, August 31, 2009, LiLu Interiors is calling IMS our home. We're excited to be here. And we are truly moved.
