Summertime and the Living is Outside

by Lisa Peck, ASID
Every new season brings a different energy, new activities and a different way of entertaining. This spring we were busy helping people with the vision to think ahead with designing spaces for outdoor entertaining. The 4th of July barbeque, family reunion or mid-summer company picnic that you host can be fabulous if you've thought through your outdoor spaces.
Having outdoor spaces that support the party and offer quiet solitude on a summer afternoon feels very important in Minnesota where we want to make the most of the all too short summer. Have you been to a recent party that left you with garden envy? If you are wishing your outdoor spaces were improved, start planning now for next summer. Having a plan in place and having time to consider your options will help you be able to execute it in time to enjoy it all summer long. Consider putting together a team...landscape architect, interior designer, if out-buildings are involved an architect to help you design the destination of your dreams right outside your door. Here are some inspirational images from local landscape architecture firms. Whether you have a large property or a small urban yard there are endless possibilities.
