Set for Inspiration

by Lisa Peck
I have an admission to make, I like movies but not for the great dialogue, superb direction or wonderful storytelling. A byproduct of being a designer is that I love the set design in movies. Sets tell a large part of the story and set designers will use the set to tell you something about the characters. If you are looking for interior inspiration you might consider channeling your favorite movie character and taking a look at their environments...do they suit you? What about the space they occupy appeals...color, simplicity, details, a sense of place. Review the movie and notice the details. If nothing else, it could be fun!

Regardless of what you want to channel...old Hollywood glamour, East Hampton ease, Upper East side formality, retro chic...there's a movie that will help you along the inspiration path.
