Reinvent Yourself – Start with your Interior Design

Reinvent Yourself - Start with your Interior Design

The world, and our lives, are changing constantly. Change can be scary, change can be hard, but change can also usher in a lot of other wonderful changes - creating a whole new era of a person's life. Change is an opportunity to reinvent yourself.
If you've gone from being single to married, married to single, a couple to a family, or perhaps, moved because of an exciting job opportunity, now is the perfect time to take a fresh look at your life and reinvent yourself.
One of the ways people reinvent themselves in the face of change is to switch up their surroundings! Creating a home that fits your new (or ever-changing) life circumstances is a fun part of these changes. Your home should reflect who you are, and if that person is changing, your home should change along with it. Creating that reflects how you truly want to live today is a fun journey to take.
Many clients start a project because a life change has prompted them to take a look around and ask if their home suits them today. If it doesn't reinvention is in order!

Reinvent Your Color Palette.

A simple but surefire way to reinvent yourself and the home that surrounds you is to switch up the color palette in your home! We've picked a few of our favorite palettes for this very purpose.

Green

Green is all about renewal. Some shades remind us of spring, with the first, brave plants waking up and coming out. Other shades remind us of midsummer when everything is bold, beautiful, and vibrant. If this is the energy you're looking to emulate, think about reinventing your color palette with some green.

White

Every blank canvas suggests a reinvention. A fresh, empty palette could create the perfect environment to imagine something new. We've selected a few of our favorite, fresh white shades to get the inspiration flowing.

Freshly Single in a Fresh Home

Going through a divorce or losing a spouse is one of the hardest experiences anyone can go through. Although, they often inspire (or require) you to reinvent yourself. Having a new place with renewed energy can be rejuvenating after going through such a hard transition in life.
Reupholstering and repurposing existing furnishings is a great way for a fresh start that is waste-conscious and wallet-conscious.
For this project, we took a sofa from one room and two chairs from the basement. We reupholstered them and it was like they were brand new furniture! We used these furnishings to create a "reinvent yourself" living room for our newly single client who was starting fresh in life.
We also utilized the spring-time association of green in this gorgeous living room - creating an environment perfect for a creative, fresh start.

New City, New Job, New Home

Exciting opportunities also bring a lot of changes. A great new job opportunity might bring you to a whole new city, and you might be thinking it's the perfect time to reinvent yourself and your home. We think you would be right!
For this project, our client was downsizing for an exciting new job and a fresh empty-nester lifestyle. To reinvent their interiors, we took a sofa from a sunroom and paired it with art and a buffet from their former dining room. We also used chairs from their former reading room, a lamp from their family room, and a new rug and ottoman to create their new, smaller family room.
For their den, we purchased a new sleep sofa and a desk from a child's former bedroom - this created a cozy den (that doubles as a guest room!) in their new apartment.

Reinvent Yourself After a Difficult Year

As the world re-opens, almost nobody is re-entering it the same as they were before. If you're reinventing yourself during your re-emergence, why not take your home along with you!
No doubt, last year was a hard one. However, it also inspired many of us to embrace our true colors, and find new spaces where we could truly be us. Reinventing yourself and your home might look like adding in new, bright, colors and patterns, like the ones we've included in this moodboard.
