Pulling the Details Through
By Lisa Peck, ASID
As part of the remodel of this space we needed to update the family room fireplace elevation in order to create a visual flow in the spaces to match the new traffic flow.
FAMILY ROOM FIREPLACE BEFORE
The fireplace was centered in the room but the television was in the corner and didn't prevented good flow between the kitchen and family room.
The sleek style of the cabinetry was designed to compliment the clean-lined cabinetry in the former kitchen.
FAMILY ROOM FIREPLACE AFTER
By centering the television and adding the warmth of wood to the cabinetry we added display space, warmth, focus and symmetry to the room and allowed for better flow between the kitchen and family room.
Take note of these details that add to the warmth and the flow of the rooms. The wood floor now flows from the kitchen throughout the space and adding a hand-knotted rug, textural stone tile and new window shade juxtaposed with the painted cabinetry we created a similar balance of materials as in the kitchen.
