After living in their 1936 five-bedroom home for decades, our clients decided it was time to downsize. With their children having moved out of state and the couple spending more time there themselves, they needed a home that required less upkeep and allowed for extended travel without worry. They found the perfect solution in a townhouse at 50th & France in Edina and turned to Lilu to transform it into their new dream home.
Lilu developed a comprehensive remodeling plan that focused on the main bathrooms, incorporating fresh traditional elements while preserving the townhouse's layout. To recreate the style of their beloved 1930s home, which was full of happy colors and a classic traditional yet slightly preppy tone, we crafted a color palette featuring yellow, pink, and green in different proportions and tones. This approach allowed for the seamless integration of their cherished furnishings from the previous home into the new space.
One of the significant challenges of this project was transforming a townhouse with a mashup of modern elements and traditional Mediterranean style, characterized by dark wood, into a fresh traditional townhome that better aligned with our clients' vision. To achieve this, we reworked architectural elements and finishes and installed wing walls to create a cohesive design that reflected their desire for a timeless yet lively living environment.
