Peek at a LiLu Project

By LuAnne Silvia, ASID
The entry of your home can sometimes be a big challenge in a small space. Especially in older urban houses. You want it to be welcoming, inviting, and a sneak peek of your home. And also, functional - a place to hang your coat, set down your keys and kick off your shoes. We helped a busy Minneapolis family with both of their entry spaces. The entry they use off of the tuck under garage, and the entry their guests use which enters onto a stair landing.
Their lower level garage entrance has a nearby closet for extra things, so we designed furnishings to accomodate daily use storage. A bench with a lower shelf provides a place to sit and store shoes. The wall shelf with cubbies and hooks hold hats, mittens, coats and backpacks.

For some storage at the front door we found fun bright colored hooks that add a splash of color and artful look to dress up the entry for guests.
