Peek at a “Different Kind” of Project

By Christina Winter, Allied Member ASID
The last six months I have been a part of the Decorating Committee for Wishes and More: A Children's Wish Foundation.  Our big event was held on February 25th at the Marriott downtown. It was Night on the Red Carpet to celebrate a new year, a collective vision and to support Wishes.  Wishes and More is a branch off of Make a Wish Foundation and was started in 2004.  Karla Bloomberg is the Volunteer President and their goal is simple:  to grant wishes to children with terminal and life-threatening illnesses and provide hopeful hearts, happy memories and assistance to those who love them.   Check out their website to learn more at www.wishesandmore.org
For the Night on the Red Carpet LiLu helped out by donating time and materials for The LiLu Boutique that was used for their Heads and Tails Game.  A bowtie, a boutique store on Hollywood Blvd and dazzling lights helped to make this event a success.  The pictures below show the progression of how the LiLu Boutique came to be:

It started with a heavy wood structure that was used the year before.

2 coats of white paint and lots of glitter were applied

Finished Product: Hot pink brick decals, wood letters from Jo Ann Fabrics, LiLu Blue Paint, Circle Mirrors and Outdoor String Lights from Target, a few screws and lots of spray adhesive

Justin Bieber was nice enough to stop by and be the celebrity sponsor!

The hot pink and LiLu Blue Bowties were such a hit!  People were seen sporting them the rest of the evening with their dress or tux!
