Once Upon a Time…

A friend of mine is currently residing in Stillwater, MN, and a few weeks ago I went to visit her at her place for the first time. She rents one section of a large older home. One of those places with beautiful hardwood, a big front porch, and an old kitchen that while dated, still boasts some degree of charm. Maybe not the kind of kitchen you usually see on a design blog, but take a closer look. I did when I turned the corner and saw this..
This old wall covering is a compilation of what you might have seen in newspapers years ago. I found it really intriguing and couldn't help but put my nose up close to the wall to see some of the detail...
Many people take a liking to older homes and purchase them with the intention of rehabbing. If you fall into this category, remember to respect the history of the home. Even if the place does need a new kitchen to accommodate modern needs, try and reference the time period in which it was built. Bring old and new together! If you're not sure what to do, give LiLu a call...we'll get our noses right up to the walls and make sure every detail is noticed and accounted for.
