Living with Intention in the New Year – 2025

As 2024 comes to a close and 2025 begins, I am reminded of the fresh possibilities that come with a new year. Instead of setting a long list of resolutions, I'm choosing to focus on one new year's intention: living with intention by design, the same guiding principle that guides our work with clients here at Lilu. This flexible, thoughtful approach extends beyond work, allowing me to align daily actions with my values while adapting to life's changes. I plan to recommit to this intention in 2025. The Power of a new year's intention

I chose to focus on one intention at the new year, rather than a list of resolutions, because I believe that having one intention is more dynamic. It can evolve with your needs and priorities, offering a sense of purpose without rigidity. Some days, my intention is to slow down and appreciate small joys, while other days, it's to embrace challenges or explore creativity. Writing down an intention each day fosters mindfulness and helps shape a life that feels meaningful and intentional.

Turning intentions into habits

Transforming a new year's intention into lasting change often involves creating new habits. For example, I've committed to daily gratitude journaling and weekly creative projects. For insights on building habits, I recommend the book Atomic Habits by James Clear - it's a practical guide to small changes that yield big results. For understanding how to sustain creativity, The Creative Act by Rick Rubin is a fantastic read.

Wellness as a core intention

This year, wellness remains a central focus of my new year's intention. Wellness means different things to everyone, but for me, it's about balancing physical, mental, and spiritual health. Designing my home to support these goals has been transformative - whether through a dedicated home yoga space, a well-organized kitchen for meal prep, or a calming nook for meditation.

Even small changes can have a big impact. Changing the color palette of your bedroom to be more soothing can support better sleep. Reconnecting with reading

Another new year's intention is rediscovering my love of reading for pleasure. This past year, I strayed into work-heavy reading, so I'm committing to reading one novel per month in 2025. A cozy reading nook, complete with a comfy chair and good lighting, makes this intention all the more enjoyable.
