Must See Interiors – The Liberty Hotel, Boston

By Emily Anderson, Allied Member ASID
This week I'm sharing some of my list of "must see" interiors across the country. We at LiLu love the green story of revamping old buildings and spaces into something alive and vibrant. And everyone loves a story of re-invention; The Liberty Hotel in Boston is just that.
The interiors are bold, daring and a bit dark, but when you delve into the hotel's past you start to understand why. This is the previous site of the Charles Street Jail which closed in 1973 due to poor living conditions. Poor no more, this 5-star luxury hotel is a cannot miss if you are in Beantown. Just think, you could have a wild time and spend the night in the clink. Even if you don't stay, make sure you tour the fantastic lobby and at the very least sip a drink at the bar "Clink".

NYC based design firm, Champalimaud won the 2008 Gold Key Grand Prize for Best Hotel and the 2008 Gold Key Best Hotel Lobby for The Liberty. The interiors are utterly sophisticated while still being accessible, perfectly blending the old and the new. I love the original jailhouse bars used in the restaurant...
