Monkeys and Murals

By Lauren Setum, Allied Member ASID
To wrap up a week of blog entries dedicated to menswear and man caves, today's LiLu Look of the Day features work from a guy (who also happens to be my cousin!) in the art and design world: artist Jimmy Danko. His journey as a painter, drawer, and writer has taken him across the country, over its borders and back again. After three years of living in Buenos Aires, he is back in LA and keeping busy! Below is a photograph of the 11 x 16 mural he created for the grand opening of the new Converse flagship store in Santa Monica.

Watch the mural come to life in this video. Notice how he signs his work at the end...very cool!
Why the gorilla you may ask? Well, the image has essentially become a logo for Jimmy as an artist...it was one of the first things he ever painted. But that's a long story short. For a complete bio and to find out exactly how the gorilla you see in the mural came to be, visit http://www.jimmydanko.com/sticker/.
