Modern Rustic

By Christina Winter, Allied Member ASID
When our clients came to us with a concept of modern and industrial but still wanted their home to feel warm and inviting; we were ready to take on the concept of Modern Rustic. One way this was accomplished was by using finishes that have warm and cool tones along with adding in bright pops of color throughout. Different materials such as corrugated metal, cedar planks, limestone and cherry wood posts help to bring in a feeling of industrial as well as elements of the rustic north.

Alder Cabinets stained Oregano along with Chile Habanero painted cabinets are sure to create an energy and buzz as soon as you enter into the home.  The stained glass back splash which will run horizontally through the kitchen is just one of the special details one will encounter. The countertops are a grey silestone that bring just the amount of cool we are looking for.

The Master Bathroom is one area that we wanted to be sure felt extra special.  The tile gives off just the right amount of industriousness that is mixed with a unique accent tile that runs above the vanity and through the shower.  The cabinets are a Royal Blue that has so much pizazz who wouldn't want to get ready in the morning.

The laundry room has different amounts of each of these VCT floors and a bright plastic laminate for the countertops.  Both are budget friendly and do not sacrifice the design intent.
Check back tomorrow to see more elements of how we incorrporated elements of Modern Rustic into our clients home with lighting and plumbing.
