Mid-Century Modern Entry – Peek at a Project

Mid-Century Entry

In any home, the entry introduces the rest of the home. It's like the first chapter of a book. If it doesn't really interest you, you won't be as excited to keep reading. This week, we're introducing a new part of the mid-century home we're currently working on: the mid-century entry! For previous blogs on the powder room in this home click here, and for the family room click here.
Most entries are small, so they might only include a few design elements to make that perfect first impression. For this reason, each element of the entry must be carefully chosen to reflect the way you would introduce your home. In this mid-century entry, we are reupholstering the bench, designing a custom entry rug, and we designed a new and more permanent room divider between the entry and living room.

Rug - Mid-Century Modern Entry

Since this rug was custom, we really wanted to take the time to ensure that the final product served as an encompassing introduction to our clients and their personality-driven home.
In previous blogs on the project, we've mentioned that our clients love to travel and live adventurous, active, and engaged lives, and to model the same to their children and those around them. So, we made sure that this custom rug has a sense of fun and adventure, complementing the active design to reflect the vibe perfectly.

Entry Bench

Our clients already had a bench in their entry. They loved it because of its functionality! It works perfectly for their active family and is essential for the gear that Minnesota winters demand. However, they knew it needed an upgrade for their new mid-century entry.
We decided to reupholster the bench, giving it an upgrade without requiring a complete replacement. We chose a fabric that captures the world traveler aspect of our client's family and introduces the wonderful colors that will unfold throughout the rest of the house. This bench adds quite well to our introduction!

Divider

During the pandemic, our clients put up a divider between their entry and living room, because one of their work-from-home stations was located right inside the living room, and she wanted more privacy from the door while in her home office. As the months went on, they decided they wanted a more permanent solution to the need for this divider.
We used a product from Lightwave Laser in a mid-century modern style, which fits the style of the rest of the house. It will be painted and framed, as well as built in, to create a permanent, functional, and stylish solution.
