Meaningful Materials

One unmistakable feature of the new ballpark is the use of native Minnesota limestone on the exterior of the park. This use of material establishes a meaningful connection to the state. The stone was sourced from quarries in Mankato, Minnesota. This limestone covers about 60% of the exterior.

The Twins also reused the wood from the basketball court of the Minneapolis Lakers in the Town Ball Tavern restaurant.
Recycling materials that would end up in a landfill and using materials that are local so they don’t need to be shipped from overseas are just a few ways to be Green. Read tomorrow’s blog for more information about how Green Target Field is, and we’re not just talking about the grass!
