Local Artist Candice Simpson
By LuAnne Silvia, ASID
To say Candice Simpson is a faux finisher is a little misleading, she is a master of transforming space through a variety of wall finishes, but it is easier to say she is a faux finisher. For those of you that think of rag rolling when you hear faux finishing, that is not exactly what we are talking about. Candice's work has a level of subtle sophistication in layering that translates into one of a kind art pieces. She is equally gifted at creating true venetian plasters, colorwashes, embossed finishes, crackles, glazing, and metallic finishes as she is creating stencils, hand painting, Trompe L'oeil and murals. What I love about her work is that she is enthusiastic, constantly challenging herself to learn new techniques and products, and always open to new ideas. She is super knowledgable about all the technical aspects, including up to date information on earth friendly finishes. Her latest adventure is creating individual works of art on canvases. Her company is called Textural Hues, for more information about Candice and her work visit www.texturalhues.com
