Las Vegas Inspired
By Emily Anderson, Allied Member ASID
There is nothing quite like Las Vegas I learned last week when my husband and I wandered the strip for the first time. I was fascinated and overwhelmed by the barrage of sights, sounds, and smells that make up Sin City.
Being I can't turn my design eye off, I also view every new place from that perspective...I just can't help it! This week takes "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" and turns it on its head. Because when you're an interior designer with LiLu Interiors, what happens is Vegas ends up as pure inspiration in our blog and in our design concepts.
There is a lot to be learned from the design elements found on the strip. (Yes, I was the crazy lady snapping photos of light fixtures and carpet.) I understand that the philosophy of Vegas is to out-do, one-up and inspire awe. And it is successful in its concept. But the most important take-away from this crazy city when designing a home is something LiLu is always preaching, "if everything is special, then nothing is special."
It can be tempting when imagining your dream space to incorporate everything you have ever loved, but let Las Vegas be your reason for restraint. LiLu understands that every design needs a hierarchy of emphasis. This design rule is rarely without exception, that is unless you are in Vegas where every rule just gets thrown right out the window.
Check in this week and see some Vegas inspired elements that you can incorporate into your own home.
