Jack Lenor Larsen

By LuAnne Silvia, ASID
We had the pleasure of meeting the legendary textile icon Jack Lenor Larsen at KDR's new showroom grand opening earlier this year. He is no stranger to Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts houses an archival collection of his textiles. His recent April visit was to join the celebration of the newly relocated and expanded showroom KDR. The showroom is home to the Cowtan & Tout brand which merged with Larsen, Inc. He mingled with the design community and autographed books. We love his woven textiles, and modern organic prints. His architecture studies and interest in technology translated into innovative warp and weft, the horizontals and verticals of weaving. For those textile enthusiasts there are several books to fulfil curiosity: Jack Lenor Larsen's LongHouse; Jack Lenor Larsen: A Weaver's Memoir; and Jack Lenor Larsen: Creator and Collector. We were excited to talk with him and get our very own studio book autographed.
