Inspired Rooms – Winterscape

By Emily Anderson
At the LiLu studio we love to be surrounded by things that inspire us. One of these many things is Vicente Wolf's book, Crossing Boundaries: A Global Vision of Design. Vicente Wolf is an interior designer, photographer and world traveler. In his book he shows us photos from his travels and the rooms that were inspired by them.
Literally, anything can be inspiration. Of course, there are the typical sources: a beautiful building, a flower in full bloom or a spectacular sunset. But there are less obvious sources too: your grandmother's brooch, an old postcard, a piece of ribbon, a child's toy. Even a tomato soup can, thank you Warhol.
What excites us at LiLu is translating these ideas into a livable interior that is a deep reflection of you. I love the idea that we can create a room in our home that reminds us of a favorite place, a delicious meal, a dream, someone we love, or even the perfect dress. So this week, I will attempt to take something ephemeral and make it tangible and lasting through an interior setting. Capturing the essence of the inspiration is what makes an interior successful and satisfying.
Our wish for you is that your interior will reflect your exterior world and that you choose to live in things that you love.
As a born and raised Minnesotan, I thought I would start with a winterscape. There is nothing more peaceful, quiet and reflective than a snowy sunrise.
