Guest Bedroom/Den Update – Peek at a Project

The room of many functions

This Guest Bedroom/Den has many functions for our clients in their downtown urban condominium.  Its' first function is a den.  It serves as another sitting area to watch television, read a book or just get away while the other may be catching up on their favorite television show.  It is also a place for two friends to have a quiet conversation while they are entertaining.  The second and perhaps most important function of the room is to be the closet for the gentleman of the house.  Prior to this project, his clothing was being housed in two separate rooms causing him to get dressed in different rooms and adding unnecessary time to his morning routine.  The third function is to serve as a guest bedroom for overnight guests.

Let's recap

Guest Bedroom/Den wants and needs:

  • Main Closet for Man of the House
  • Place to watch television or read a book
  • Spot to have a quiet conversation while entertaining
  • Guest Bedroom for overnight guests

The Solution

When you work with LiLu Interiors, we always give you many options for a layout in a room.  We love space planning and being creative.  We are a solution-oriented interior design firm so you can bet we will always find the a solution that will fit most of your needs and wants.  We will also help you weigh the options if you have to give up anything.
Each of the spaces plans presented to the client has all of the functions that these clients.  The clients selected the approach with one long wall of closet that was then outfitted with a track door system and interiors by California Closets.  It was a great collaboration.

Furniture Selections

Once the space plan has been selected for the guest bedroom/den, we select furniture based on size, style and function.  In this space, we wanted a sleeper sofa with queen size mattress.  Since we did not have a lot of space in the room, we needed to select a slim, clean lined frame.  A small scale side chair with a pair of ottomans is a perfect layout to have a conversation or to kick your feet back to watch television or read a book.

Hi Lisa ~ I love seeing all of the options you gave them to consider. So often we get stuck thinking there’s only *one way* to make a room work because we’re not trained or aware of the options that are out there like you are.
I’m looking forward to following along as you complete this space for your lucky clients,

  4. Sheri Bruneau says:

I love how you give your client options for space planning as well as for the furniture. This truly shows the value of hiring an Interior Designer to make the space both functional and pretty! I can’t wait to see the final results!
