Grasscloth 101

By Ally Evander, Allied Member, ASID

I've been seeing a lot of lovely, new printed grasscloth wallcoverings lately and got to thinking about the process of educating clients about what to expect with grasscloths.
So here is basic Grasscloth 101, things you should know about grasscloth wallcovering....
1. It panels. What this means is, you will see the seams on the wall. And that's ok! You just have to know to expect it.

2. It has a great deal of texture and is not quite as durable as some other coverings, so you should carefully consider if it is right for your particular space. (If you have a high moisture area or curious kids/dogs, you might want to reconsider.)

3. Get a professional installer who has worked with grasscloth before. It can be a difficult material to work with.

And now that you know the basics of grasscloth wallcovering, here is some eye candy....  We will be installing this lovely pattern in a client's home later this month....
