Fireplace Makeover

We recently were presented with a fun design challenge to remodel a fireplace.

We approached the challenge to give the fireplace a makeover in the same way we approach any design project. The design process for the fireplace is outlined below
The Design Challenge:

• Lacked focal point
• Looked like an appliance
• Budget solution was a concern

Our Design Concept:

• Add visual weight to fireplace and create focal point within room
• Add interest through mix of materials yet tie into existing finishes
• Style to be in keeping with contemporary architecture
• Design a moderate budget solution with high impact 

LiLu's Solution:

• Designed contemporary stainless steel mantle
• Applied real stone veneer wall covering to add color and textural interest
• Removed base and shoe so fireplace with new stone surround would appear monolithic
