Fear Not: Your Project is Safe with LiLu

A guest post by Josh Anderson

Come Sunday kids of all ages, not to mention plenty of adults, will celebrate Halloween.
Ghouls, ghosts and goblins will be banging on front doors across the Twin Cities, begging for a sweet treat. Others will be found dancing to “The Monster Mash.” And a good number will simply veg out in front of a “Friday the 13th” movie marathon – all 14 installments.
As you’re buying bags of candy, stringing up fake cobwebs and applying layers of fake blood, we at LiLu Interiors will be counting down to Halloween in a different way. Starting today we’ll spend this week explaining why there’s nothing to fear when it comes to working with an interior designer.
And we start by letting you know that your project is safe with us.
Don’t fear LiLu designers
When hiring an interior designer, you likely are taking action on a project you’ve been dreaming about for some time. LiLu doesn’t steal this ownership from you by dictating design. Instead we provide you with an enjoyable boutique experience by engaging you from start to finish.
How? By first meeting with you, preferably in your home, to learn your goals, dreams, and even your concerns. We want to know just as much about you as people – your interests, passions, hobbies – as we do about the project itself.
Our designs are never predictable even though we are
From there we get to work, with a focus on providing you with a collaborative, thoughtful approach to design. We believe this type of relationship offers you the most value, ownership and enjoyment.
We accomplish this by following our proven design process and meeting with you throughout the entire process in order to explore:

  • Design programming – Gather more detailed information required to fulfill your needs.
  • Concept development – Explore ideas and develop sketches to identify a design solution that addresses scale, massing, line, texture, color, shape, and more.
  • Spatial relationships – Study traffic, flow, support of functional needs, furniture layout and interrelationships of vertical and horizontal planes.
  • Selection – Choose or design finishes, materials, furnishings and fabrics.

We roll up our sleeves, and never design off the cuff

LiLu works hard to make sure you're always in the know. And we won't make up a design as a project moves along, which is why we provide written and drawn documentation of the design solution. This can include finish and fixture specifications for your contractor and technical drawings for remodeling, lighting plans, custom cabinets and custom furniture.
All your own, not on your own
At LiLu, we’re committed to being there for you every step of the way. That means we visit construction sites to guide and assist your contractors; place furniture orders; oversee fabrication of custom items; arrange and supervise delivery and installation. Anything and everything you need during a project, LiLu is there for you.
And with the right interior designer, you next remodel, new construction or restoration project won’t play out like some horror film.
Stop back tomorrow for Fear Not: Avoid Costly Mistakes of DIY.
