Drawing from the Past- Local Inspiration
By Lisa Peck, ASID
When looking for inspiration from the past there are many local places to visit to see textiles, sculpture, and other artifacts that you can use to as a launching point for how you would like your home to be.
Visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts to see decorative objects, textiles, architecture and art from a wide variety of cultures and eras. Online resources at www.artsmia.org.
The Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota has a collection of Korean furniture and Mimbres Pottery that I find inspriational.
Another great local resource is the Goldstein Museum of Design also at The University of Minnesota.
