Dining Room Refresh: Peek at a Project
PEEK AT A PROJECT
Dining Room Refresh
Our long time client had a desire to refresh her dining room without changing the whole room. All of the furniture is in good shape, so she doesn’t want to get rid of all of it for practical reasons. Her goal was to give the room a new, fresh feeling. So how do we create transformation while leaving most of the current elements in place? Together we decided a refreshing paint color, some new host chairs in a fun fabric, and a new fabric for the seats of the existing chairs would be just enough to make the old room feel new again.
Paint
Our client told us: “We love to gather and eat! This room doesn’t look like the dining room of people who love to eat!”
We felt that a joyful, more exuberant wall color would be in order. Benjamin Moore’s Boca Raton Blue for below the chair rail and Heavenly Blue for above it would provide just the needed punch.
Fabrics
We decided we needed a way to bring in a really fun fabric. She didn’t need new window treatments, so we decided that the best way to use a fun fabric would be on host chairs at each end of the table. This client’s home is a traditional craftsman style with beautiful stained woodwork. We just knew William Morris would have a perfect fabric for this room! Traditional Morris prints feel right at home with the history of the space, but the bright colors elevate it for a touch or whimsy.
The client was also craving a little emerald green in her life. So we decided to pull that color out of the patterned fabric and use it as a solid on the existing side chair seats.
A Little Goes a Long Way
With just paint and two fabrics, we’re giving a whole new feeling to a tired room! We can’t wait to see this dining room refresh take place.
