Design Week
By LuAnne Silvia, ASID
We are just weeks away from Midwest Home Design Week! A week long celebration of interior design with a variety of fun events to inform and inspire. Mark your calendars for February 10 - 16th and check out the complete listing of events.
On Sunday February 10th the Weisman Art Museum will play host for the kick-off event. The keynote speaker is Thom Filicia. You may recognize him as the interior designer who starred in the hit cable show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, or know him as the author of American Beauty: Renovating and Decorating a Beloved Retreat or what he is best known for, a New York interior designer and founder of design firm Thom Filicia, Inc. He has been named one of House Beautiful’s Top 100 American Designers, a House & Garden International Tastemaker, one of Elle Decor's top 25 Designers and an Emmy award winner. Lisa and I had the opportunity to meet him last spring in New York at Blogfest. He is a fascinating and friendly person!
The fun continues after the keynote luncheon with break out sessions. LiLu's own Lisa Peck is co-hosting the Design Live seminar, an interactive event where the audience creates a room by selecting each piece of furniture. Lisa and Brandi Hagen of Eminent Interior Design will be presenting the options and providing expert advice on the elements that bring a room together. Behind the scenes LiLu's own Ally Evander will be assembling the finished space as the votes come in. Stick around to see the completed space and mingle over happy hour.
