Coastal Casual Living Room: Peek at a Project by LiLu Interiors
PEEK AT A PROJECT
Coastal Casual…. Sounds nice doesn’t it? That’s our concept for the living room space in this Edina new construction home. Let’s talk about how we hope to achieve the Coastal Casual look in this living space project.
The Casual Space Plan:
This client wanted a living space that functions for entertaining just as well as it does for everyday life. This room is open to the large kitchen/dining area. So it’s the perfect space for guests to roam back and forth between the kitchen and living room. But the two rooms are so connected that it won’t feel like two separate parties.
Coastal Casual Concept & Fabrics:
We always attach words to our designs to describe to our clients what the end result of the design process will be. They wanted a relaxing vibe, shades of blue and sandy neutrals to round out the palette. Think of walking on an East Coast beach with your favorite weekend jeans, cuffs rolled up. That’s what this palette looks like.
We presented two separate palette options to the clients. They loved them both, but chose option B because it spoke to them a little more. They loved the large scale pattern that featured multiple blues and taupe. This fabric will establish the color palette for the room. We’ll use it for pillows to create a fun pop in the room.
Coastal Casual Materials:
We also wanted the Coastal Casual feeling to be reflected in the material choices. The pair of coffee tables will be covered in a white grasscloth with a clear lacquer on top. Grasscloth is such an easy, breezy look and will definitely add to the Coastal Casual vibe.
We cannot wait to finish this space! We think it’s going to have the most easy, breezy vibe with all those cool blues washing over the room and the sandy tones to add depth. Keep checking back on the blog for more peeks into the spaces in this Coastal Casual Project.
