Blogfest 2013: Wanted Design

By LuAnne Silvia, ASID and Christina Winter, Allied Member ASID

Our first free day in New York City for Blogfest 2013 found us at Wanted Design, an international design event in the landmark Terminal Stores.

In it's third year the design event is an exhibition of curated international designers with a variety of events: conversation series, film screenings, programs, international talent, student work and established and emerging artisans. One of our favorite native Minnesotan design teams Jee Levin and Randall Buck of Trove were one of the supporters of Wanted Design. Now located in New York, they launched their new collection with two new patterns Nimbus and Heze that we got to see a sneak peek in the Minneapolis Holly Hunt showroom a few weeks ago. The images come from their photographic experiments with flash lights and fiber optics. We saw this large scale installation in New York at Wanted Design.

We instantly connected with Be Original, a group of companies that believes in promoting the agenda of protecting an original design, that good design makes a difference, authenticity and creativity. Amen! We discovered many innovative products and new resources and were inspired by the student work from the Rhode Island School of Design.

We ended our first day with the official kick-off event to Blogfest at Jonathan Adler at the opening reception where we saw old friends and met new ones.
