The Top Showhouses for Interior Design Inspiration-According to LiLu

Top Design Showhouses-inspiration
On Monday, we featured one of the top, best-attended showhouses in the country! Our very own ASID showcase home. There are many reasons to tour a Showhouse. One is that most showhouses benefit a local charity. Our ASID showcase home benefits the Junior Leagues of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Touring a Showhouse can also be a great girls night or day out or a fabulous date night. Many show homes feature a chefs night with a private meal by a renowned chef. The best reason to attend a Showhouse, however, is for inspiration. Whether you are considering an interior design project or not, the creativity and beauty of a show home will inspire you.
You get to see the work of the top interior designers at showhouses. They often work to create a space that is truly magical and the designs may not work for everyday living, but think of it as haute couture. Lovely to look at and can inspire a look for everyday wear.
If you can't travel the country to see each Showhouse in person, consider seeking your inspiration via Instagram, Pinterest or the Showhouse website.
Here are my top picks (beyond MN) for the Showhouses worthy of a trip to see them in person:

Consider this: Maybe the lilac and yellow color scheme of the nursery in the Boston Designer Showhouse by Elza B Design  isn't your thing, but you might decide you could use a sophisticated color scheme that goes beyond the offerings at Pottery Barn Kids after seeing this fabulous space. Or the drama of Ken Fulk's Kips Bay dining room might feel a little over the top for your home, but encourage you to be a bit more adventurous when you do redo your room. Visiting a Showhouse will give you ideas and allow you to stretch your tastes of what appeals to you in interior design today.
