Sofas, Loveseats, and Chairs – Oh My! Peek at a Project

Sofas, Loveseats, and Chairs - Oh My!
Today's Peek at a Project is a Peek at our Process...
We are designing a living room space for our client and now that we have established their goals for the space (invites conversation, comfortable for homeowner/supports their back, provide lounging space to read and watch television and enjoy the fire) we are in the phase of selecting furnishings. The open concept condominium allows for a furniture grouping around the fireplace and a reading chair and ottoman near the window to take advantage of the view. The conversation area around the fireplace is anchored by the client's existing sofa, we are adding new chairs and a new loveseat to the mix.  The furniture grouping floats in the space, so while it is a symmetrical layout the varied seating creates interest and an opportunity for different types of seating experiences. The key factor mentioned in our client's list of goals is that the furniture needs to have good lumbar support. In selecting seating pieces there are many things to consider including seat depth, seat height, seat cushion, arm height, the pitch of the back and the type of back cushion. All of these factors influence the comfort. Based on the client goals we are able to pre-select and narrow down the possibilities into a few options for our client to consider. The next step, to have our client in to the showrooms to try them out. We are fortunate to have many hand crafted and artisan made furniture pieces available in the showrooms of International Market Square to see in person. Here is a peek at the design process and the options we presented to our client.

It looks like you’ve selected some beautiful options for your client to consider, Lisa. Since I’m such a reader…if I were your client, that chair and ottoman in Option A would be my choice (it’s beautiful!) and I love how the extra bit of wood trim adds a textural shift and a bit of strength to all of the soft, fabric upholstery

  2. Janet Lorusso says:

Nice choices! And fun to see a bit of the process!

  3. Carla Aston says:

Lots of good choices here. My favorite spot would be that corner with the chair and ottoman!
