REVOLUTIONIZE YOUR LIFE WITH AN ORGANIZED CLOSET
Easy Morning = Productive Day
That’s right! An organized closet can revolutionize your life. One of our goals as designers is to design every day stressors out of your life. There is nothing worse than having trouble deciding what to wear in the morning because you simply don’t know or can’t see what you have!
As a Mom, one of my key goals for a smooth morning is to be ready before my kids get up. A smooth morning means less stress for everyone. If I leave the house in a good mood I have a more productive day. As an entrepreneur, volunteer, mom and wife, it’s important to be productive at work. Working productively means I have time to do the other things that are important to me in my life from volunteering to spending quality family time to pursuing my hobbies and having a bit of fun!
I bet you can relate. We all have things we want to spend time on and sorting through a packed closet or messy jewelry box to simply make it out the door isn’t an experience we enjoy having every day!
By designing an organized closet you can change your morning and your daily experience! Starting the day calm and organized is a revolutionary experience. So Revolutionize your life with an organized closet!
Everything in One Place
The first principle for easy dressing is that you must have everything in one place. We often find that our clients have part of their clothing in one closet and part in another. Running from one end of the room or home to the other every morning to get dressed.
We often work to design his and hers closets into a space. All of your clothes and shoes should be in one dressing area. If you must re-space plan to achieve this, it will be worth the investment! I
n this example, we designed one custom walk-in closet that the client wanted to be a shopping experience! We designed a custom island to allow her to shop her accessories in her own closet.
If you need to take a serious “Spark Joy” approach to creating a smaller wardrobe, do it! You won’t regret it!
Group Like Items
The second principle is to have the clothing and accessories you do have organized. Group like items. Casual clothes in one area, work clothes in another and formal clothing in yet a different area. This simple tip will save you time. If you can walk up to one section of your closet and create an appropriate outfit without a thought, imagine how easily your morning will flow.
When everything is at hand and you don’t have to search you will revolutionize your life and look fabulous every day. Here is another home remodel were we redesigned an extra bedroom into a walk-in closet and master bathroom to add ease to our clients life without expanding the foot print of her home.
Third, make sure you have appropriate types of storage for your clothing. Cubbies for handbags and shoes, shelving for work out clothes and sweaters, drawers for jewelry and accessories along with both short and long hanging for a variety of dress clothing. Be sure you consider the size of the clothing you wear! Some of our taller clients need long hanging for jeans and those petites…they can fit more clothing into a smaller space.
These drawings show careful attention to the size and type of clothing the client wanted to store even though a more standard closet system is being used.
Room to Grow
Fourth, include space to grow. While we all have ambitions to get rid of older items when we add something new to our wardrobe, the truth is most often we don’t. By designing in space to expand you will prevent future modifications.
What a great way to stay organized! Have room to grow!
Get the Light Right
Fifth, light your closet well! All this organization will be for naught if you walk out into the world wearing navy pants and a black sweater (of course, unless, that’s what you wanted to do)
Color perception is greatly effected by lighting. You will want enough light. We suggest between 30-35 lumens per square foot of space in your closet. We recommend LED light source be between 2700 to 3000k to have the best perception of color in your closets
