Refresh: Mixing Old with New – Peek at a Project

PEEK AT A PROJECT

Refresh: Mixing Old with New

Wondering about mixing old with new? Looking around and thinking you would like to give your room a refresh? We love finding ways to re-imagine cherished pieces and mixing in new pieces. By mixing in a few new pieces you can completely transform your interior to have a whole new look!

Living Room Before

Our client had inherited quality upholstery pieces that they wanted to reuse. A sofa and matching loveseat, a pair of armchairs and a coffee table. The furnishings were the right scale for the room and very comfortable, but not their style. The bullion fringe on the sofa and loveseat were too traditional and the glass top table wasn't practical for their lifestyle with toddlers at home. They wanted a simpler more contemporary look.

Living Room After

We reupholstered the sofa and loveseat with a solid gray fabric giving the frames a whole new look. To change the look of the coffee table we used a dark bronze finish on the metal base. And to make it more practical we changed out the glass top with a new wood top. It looks like a brand new table! We added some new pieces to complete the room. A blue rug, sheer drapery and shades, and a few end tables and lamps.

Dining Room Before

We brought the same approach to the dining room. Refresh: mixing old with new. They already had a dining table scaled perfectly to fit the room. They wanted this room to feel finished and just as comfortable as the living room.

Dining Room After

To anchor the room and bring in some softness and color we added a large colorful patterned rug. We selected upholstered dining chairs to add more texture to the room and for comfort. New artwork completes the room and gives it a refresh.
