The Outdoor Living Room: Peek at a Project

PEEK AT A PROJECT

The Outdoor Living Room with Fireplace: Peek at a Project
Having a place to gather outdoors with family and friends is ideal. A space that offers all the comforts of an indoor living room, combined with the sound of birds chirping, the sun shining and a soft breeze blowing is even better. Check out the design we’ve been working on for this outdoor living room complete with fireplace!
As part of a larger project, we’ve been partnering with Peterssen Keller Architecture to create a comfortable outdoor living space in the back yard of this new construction home in Edina. These clients saw the original drawings for the outdoor space off of the pool and wanted to explore adding a fireplace to make it more cozy and useable throughout the year.
Since this project is located in Minnesota, when summer is here, you have to take advantage! Good weather cannot be wasted! It’s even better when you can extend enjoyment of the outdoors into Fall and Spring. One feature that makes this easier to do is the outdoor fireplace.
This covered porch area is centered around an impressive stone surround fireplace to allow for gathering outdoors in the colder months. I can imagine how pleasant it would be to sit by the fire watching a football game in the fall. We haven’t designed furniture yet, but the plan is to have comfortable seating pieces cozied up to the fire and a dining table for family meals or buffet style entertaining.
Another tool to extend one’s enjoyment of an outdoor space is to use screens. This outdoor living room will be equipped with Phantom screens, remote controlled retractable screen walls. This protects from pests while still allowing people to enjoy the outdoors. This is especially key at night when the bugs come out!
I don’t know about you, but I think I could move right in!
