A Modern Look for a Not-So-Modern Home

PEEK AT A PROJECT

Last week we showed you the new fireplace we just installed in a client's St. Paul home. They live in a very classic older home, but were craving a more modern interior. We transformed their existing fireplace into a more modern architectural element. Next, we set out to create space plans and select furnishings that would lend a more modern vibe to the space.
Check out our mood boards for each room. Overall, we selected clean-lined upholstery pieces, mixed with some of the client's existing antique pieces and a few new pieces with interesting shapes, materials and textures. The client really wanted to incorporate a live-edge wood piece somewhere. We selected a locally-made live-edge walnut table top. We'll pair it with sculptural metal legs. And voila!- a modern, eclectic mix that reflects the client's desire for a more modern home! (Well OK, it was more complicated than that, but you know what I mean.)
