Powder Room – New Construction Lake Home Project – Peek at a Project

Powder Room - New Construction Lake Home

Continuing the exploration of our new construction lake home project in Wisconsin, we've been considering which part of the home to share with our readers next. This week, we decided to share our plans for the beautiful powder room, which we know you'll love.
If you want to look back at the previous posts about this home see more about our concept meeting here, and the overall space planning of this home here.

Materials

The materials selected for this lake home's powder room were specifically selected with the vibe our clients wanted their home to give off.
Firstly, the wood flooring from the rest of the home flows into the powder room as well. Without tile, it gives the room the same rustic oak appeal as the rest of the home.
We are using a brown Cambria countertop for this room, which contrasts beautifully with the rift-cut white oak that was selected for the cabinetry.
A unique material we plan to use is sliced river rocks as accents. The home is located on both a river and a lake, and these rocks will serve as a reflection of the beautiful, natural geographic location of the home.
The faucet we selected has an industrial feel. Our clients wanted a rustic, wooded home with industrial features, so that is what they're getting! This faucet has the same industrial appeal as the light fixtures. The sconces shown in the photo below have an industrial look as well, supporting our client's concept of a rustic, wooded lake home with industrial touches.

Lake Home Powder Room - Cabinetry Design

On top of the balance between rustic and industrial, our client also loves craftsman touches.
So, in this powder room, we've selected cabinets that have all of the craftsman details, including a vertical style on the panels, and an arched apron detail at the toe-kick. Extra storage is provided by the accompanying linen tower.
We selected the rift-cut white oak because it is a traditional craftsman wood, and the hardware was selected to support the industrial touches in the lake home powder room. The cabinetry is another way that this powder room carries out the perfect rustic lake home with industrial touches.

Lake Home Powder Room - Focal Wall

This wall will be the first one you see as you walk into the powder room. This wall creates a strong focal point for the powder room because it features one of the materials we mentioned earlier: the sliced river rocks.
A vertical band of sliced river rock will be embedded into the drywall. This detail will be created by recessing the stone into a very slim niche in the drywall that is planned to be three feet in width.
This wall is one of my favorite details of the powder room because each piece of stone is like a piece of art, each worthy of being enjoyed on its own. This gorgeous wall will add to the visual appeal of the space, and bring the beauty of nature into the space for a biophilic feel.
