Virtual Fun with Christmas Color Schemes
Every Christmas presents an opportunity to fill your home with magic and cheer in the winter months. Living in Minnesota, I really enjoy adding a layer of sparkle and magic to our home over the month of December. If I could, I would do a new theme for Christmas each year. My children, however, love the traditional Christmas décor they are used to! And since I adore them…I work to make their Christmas as heart-warming and nostalgic as possible for them.
So, I thought I’d have a little virtual fun creating five color palettes I would love to do and hopefully inspire you to have a little fun creating a fresh look this Christmas.

Red and Green
Red and green is the most classic of Christmas color schemes. I love adding just a touch of gold and silver to this classic look with ribbon or embellished glass ornaments! Adding the sparkle elevates this color scheme.
The triple wreath from Balsam Hill is another way of adding a new twist to this look.

Silver and Gold
Silver and Gold are nostalgic for me and bring to mind the Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer animated special of my childhood.
Silver and gold, silver and gold

Silver and Gold is also a classic Christmas color scheme! Since I love adding a twist to any classic, I added the lacquered magnolia wreath!

Blue Christmas
A blue Christmas doesn’t have to be about the blues! While it does call to mind another Christmas song by Elvis, more recently we have been using this Christmas color scheme to families who celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas.
It’s also just a great modern look! After all Sherwin Williams has picked Naval as their color of the year for 2020
The glass star here is a great modern look for a Blue Christmas.

Blush Christmas
For a truly modern Christmas, try decorations in the color of Benjamin Moore’s color of the year for 2020 First Light or a blush pink with a slight blue undertone.
Pretty and light, this Christmas color scheme is sure to lift spirits and create a calm vibe in your home over the holidays! An all ornament wreath is a beautiful touch and these hand-blown candle holders from Glass Baby keeps the look fresh.

Natural Christmas
Keeping things simple can be appealing, so this final look is all about simple and natural.
Blooming paper whites, combining greens and pinecones, burlap ribbon and all things natural can create a Zen vibe that feels fresh. The special touch here is a magic wishes ornament you can fill yourself with a wish for the new year and a blessing for those you love.

My personal favorite is always pink for decorations – love these!
Love all these schemes and your moodboards do such a good job of showing the color combos. I want them all!
I love all of these especially the silver gold and then blue! Oh and the blush too! Very cool mooodboards.
All beautiful collections, Lisa, and beautifully presented! I especially love the classic silver and gold scheme. It has such a timeless, elegant appeal!
Love the blue and the blush combinations.
I love seeing all the visuals of the different color schemes! Thanks!
This is really a beautiful post, Lisa! And I actually clicked on, and watched, the video of Elvis singing BLUE Christmas while reading. What a nice touch to have a little music along with such beautiful inspiration! Re: my favorite? I couldn’t pick just one!
Lisa, I love all of these palettes! I do three trees and they are all themed and color coordinated to the room. This makes me want to add even more trees! A perfect inspirational post.
I love how you created color schemes! I think my favorite is the blue but I do have a soft spot for the blush!
Lovely examples Lisa of these color schemes for Christmas decorating. My fav besides the natural is blush being a color I love to wear and everyone looks great in a room painted this color too.
