Lake Cabin

Here is a sneak peek at the initial design concepts for a new construction lake cabin in Wisconsin. We are excited to be working with our clients again, this time designing their dream cabin!  The kitchen is the heart of their home now, and we envision the kitchen with the large custom dining table/island will be one of the most used rooms at the cabin too.

Concept

They want an inviting comfortable lake home for their family to spend time together on the weekends. They love the warmth and character of traditional details. Their home is traditional expressed in a cleaner, simpler way. Their current lower level is a great family hangout space. For their cabin they want the overall design to be traditional, and yet have a different feeling from their home. Traditional, yet rustic and unique. Cozy and relaxed. Referencing the water and wooded lot. Located on a peninsula, we drew inspiration from the color of the water and natural landscape. We presented three ideas that fit the concept each in a different way. Here are the three concepts

Modern Rustic Woods

• Varying neutrals in warm and cool tones
• Linear patterns and rectilinear shapes
• Rougher textures

Beach Inspired

• Lighter blue/green water and sandy colors
• Wavy patterns and shapes
• Smoother textures with visual interest

Lakeside Retreat

• Deeper blues and warm gray and copper tones
• Mix of geometric shapes and patterns
• Handmade tiles

Our clients envision quiet mornings, spending the day on the lake, enjoying outdoor dining, and gathering at the end of the day for conversation around a fire.
