Armchair Inspiration

By Lisa Peck, ASID
I recently attended the presentation of Benjamin Moore's Color Pulse 2012 at our local monthly ASID meeting. Each year, Doty Horn, Director of color and design at Benjamin Moore explores the world to predict global trends in color and design. Every year I find this presentation inspiring. I find myself wishing I could attend all of the gallery events, fashion shows, design events and visit all the shops and cities in the images that Doty uses to represent her trends. The vast expanse of creativity that exists in the world is energizing. For those of us who travel a little but can't circumnavigate the globe every year there is an alternative....armchair inspiration.
As for Benjamin Moore the main theme for 2012 they have identified is Preservation. A lush slide show developed four key elements to support the theme of Preservation: Heritage, Process, Protection, and Enlightenment. We are enlightened to move forward towards a kaleidoscopic vision for a sustainable future.

This week I will feature some ways of finding global inspiration all from home, in other words "armchair inspiration".
