A Sign of the Times

The designers of LiLu recently attended a truly inspiring presentation about market trends called “Reinterpretations: A Sign of the Times.” Rather than being a presentation of forecasted trends, it was a look into what has motivated the trends that we see in art and design today. To me, the most intriguing part of the presentation was looking at popular trends and focusing on why people are attracted to these things from a psychological point of view. Four macro trends were identified. Each trend has two opposite yet related parts; like a yin and yang.
Last week on the blog, Lisa talked about a method of determining your style by gathering information from other interiors and analyzing what attracts you to that space. This is an intriguing subject because so often as designers, we come across clients who aren’t sure what they want. If this sounds like you, read on this week about the four macro trends and how they can help you gain some psychological insight into your style!
