A beginning

With a big job and a budget that was not limitless. We first defined our concept in alignment with the clients dreams, lifestyle and goals.
Concept: To create a family-friendly home that reflected our clients love of European design and create better flow throughout the home.
First steps: Decide what to keep. The house really did have "good bones" but years of not updating and small remodel projects had left the home feeling dated and a little choppy. To keep the budget in line we had to determine what existed that matched our concept.

The existing brick of the fireplace was attractive but could have been balanced better within the space.

Large areas of the main floor were covered in this paver which could be the basis of a European concept.
The finish on the wrought iron railing was dated but the style was consistent with our concept.

By taking the elements that worked for our design in the existing home and adding the right finishes a strong start to a beautiful design was achieved.

A wood floor that blended in color with the existing pavers gave continuity to the main floor and replaced a number of flooring materials including golden oak, carpet and other tile. The warm/cool combo in the finish would give the floor longevity combined with it's rating for use in commercial spaces it was perfect for this busy family.

The tile in the kitchen would continue a warm/cool color mix and strike the right tone as a echo of a European design.

Mixing metal finishes created a sense of sophistication and modern attitude mixed with traditional forms.

A wall covering in the powder room echos the traditional pattern motif and updated attitude.

Painted cabinets with a glazed finish mixed with the stained cabinets would create an old world feel and create emphasis in key areas.
