Remodeling One Bathroom Into Two: Sneak Peek at a Lower Level Remodel

MONDAY'S PEEK AT A PROJECT

Remodeling one bathroom into two helped improve the function of our client’s lower level featured on today’s peek at a project. We did a similar project recently  adding a master bathroom so our client would have a separate space for guests and we also added a powder room  to the main floor for a client who purchased an older home in St. Paul. Thoughtfully designed bathrooms are not only beautiful but add to the value of your home and your daily experience.
For today’s peek at a project our client’s lower level required remodeling one bathroom into two. Their current set up of a Jack and Jill bathroom provided functional space adjacent to their kids bedrooms, but did not provide a separate space for guests. As part of a larger remodeling project it made sense to add a powder room while we were updating their lower level bar, billiard area and tv area. We love space planning challenges at LiLu Interiors! By reorganizing space we were able to divide the larger Jack and Jill bathroom into a powder room and a new kids bathroom. We kept most plumbing fixtures in place and minimized demolition of walls. The new layout accommodate storage for the kids in the bathroom and a new hall linen closet for extra storage.

Contemporary Finishes

The lower level is contemporary in style and largely black and white. For the kids bathroom we selected a mix of black and white patterned tiles for the shower for a fun, whimsical flavor that is just sophisticated enough to grow with them as they age. For the powder room we wanted to glam it up a bit so it would feel like a continuation of their new hotel-like bar. We selected a dark gray floor tile with metallic accents and a metallic paint color for the ceiling. Contemporary plumbing fixtures and glass pendant lighting complete the look.

Remodeling one bathroom into two transformed this lower level into an entertaining experience that works well for entertaining and daily life. What experiences do you desire in our own home for yourself? Guests? Daily life? With intentional thought your life can have the experiences you desire. And we would love to help, LiLu Interiors is in the business of bringing intention home.
