Spring Ahead – Dreaming of Outdoor Kitchen Spaces

As we welcome in the new season, on the first official day of spring we can't help but think about outdoor living! At LiLu Interiors we enjoy designing outdoor spaces as much as we enjoy designing indoor spaces. The possibilities are almost endless...Take a peek at an outdoor kitchen that we are selecting the materials for in Hawaii. While spring is officially here in Minnesota, it still might be a bit too early to move outdoors (but not too early to start planning!) In Hawaii however, the outdoor and indoor spaces seamlessly transition from one to another all year round. This outdoor kitchen has an amazing view and an inviting circular shape that makes outdoor cooking a breeze. The ocean environment calls for a specific type of stainless steel that will uphold to the elements. The design team worked together to help the clients realize their vision for the outdoor spaces. The large circular island welcomes and invites many family members to be together.

The curved backsplash dictates a certain size of tile. Playing off the color palette of the indoor spaces and the island waters we found the prefect backdrop in this tile from Syzygy. The glaze has a subtle range in color that mimics the range of blues found in the water and sky. It creates a nice rhythm that feels right at home. We can't wait to see the finished kitchen when the tile installers work their magic, until then we put color to paper to help our client imagine this dreamy space.
